CAMPAIGN TO ELECT DR. TIFFANY BRYANT
Engaging Parents and Parental Rights Advocacy
Following COVID, I believe the district missed a critical opportunity to reimagine education and strengthen engagement with both students and parents. Instead of taking a proactive and innovative approach, the district appeared to respond reactively—failing to anticipate the evolving needs of families.
Many parents, including myself, have felt disconnected from what is happening inside our schools. There is limited transparency and access when it comes to understanding classroom instruction and student experience. If highly engaged parents feel this gap, it is likely many others do as well.
This lack of connection has real consequences. Some families, after gaining visibility during virtual learning, began to question instructional quality, engagement, and overall support. Others who found success with alternative learning models explored different educational options altogether. There should be a recognition to support Parental Rights as essential for effective student support.
While schools are not responsible for parenting, they are responsible for building strong, collaborative relationships with parents and guardians. The district must do a better job of creating access, improving communication, and making parents true partners in their child’s education.
